Oddworld Inhabitants are running a competition for fans to (once again) name a part of the upcoming Abe’s Oddysee remake.
The competition, which was posted on the official Oddworld site, asks fans to submit names for some of the Trophies that will appear in the game.
The trophies to be named are:
  • Kill a Boombat with a rock
  • Escape from RuptureFarms without Abe being spotted by any Slig
  • Have Abe die in 15 unique ways
  • Kill Sligs in 15 unique ways
  • Finish the game with the Good Ending faster than our best developer time
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 5th February, and all entries are to be submitted by email (alf@oddworld.com). Oddworld staff will then pick five finalists for each Trophy from the submissions, and the winner will be voted by fans.

Prizes

In addition to their submission being used in the game, winners will also have their names featured in the game credits and will also be given a download code for a copy of New ‘n’ Tasty on the PlayStation platform of their choice. Runners-up will receive a download code for the Oddboxx.

At yesterday’s E3 press conference, Sony announced on behalf of Oddworld Inhabitants that Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty would be making its debut on PlayStation 4. Lorne Lanning took to the stage along with other indie game developers, accompanied by new gameplay footage.
Oddworld Inhabitants have also published a selection of 1080p screenshots on their website, plus a full teaser trailer on their Youtube channel.
New ‘n’ Tasty was already confirmed for PS3, PSVita and PC at last year’s Eurogamer Expo – but tellingly,  there has yet to be an announcement that it will appear on Xbox One. Oddworld Inhabitants also confirmed on their website that the game would be coming to Mac OS X and Linux.
In a surprising announcement, New ‘n’ Tasty and Stranger’s Wrath HD will also be coming to Wii U, marking the first time a game developed by Oddworld Inhabitants will appear on a Nintendo console.

In case you hadn’t heard, Sony announced the PlayStation 4 at a live event yesterday.
While it may not be the most surprising thing you’ve ever heard, it looks as though Just Add Water will be developing a game for the brand new system – the studio’s logo was shown on a slide along with the logos of other developers working on titles for the console. This was quickly followed up with a post on the JAW site confirming the fact:

By now you’ll have eagerly lapped up all the information from the Sony PlayStation announcement. You’ll have seen our name in the list of confirmed developers. We’re delighted to finally be able to tell you that JAW are developing for the Sony PlayStation 4. We can’t talk about what we’re working on just yet. Just be assured it’ll be worth the wait.

It’s entirely possible that the mystery project has nothing to do with Oddworld — the studio has hinted that they have some non-Oddworld plans in the works in the past — but with the amount of Oddworld titles already announced, it’s a safe bet we’ll be seeing Abe and friends on the next generation of consoles.
