Oddguy hired by Oddworld‐Web

Story 69 reported by Max on
Sunday, 29th February 2004 at 10·01 p.m. GMT

Oddworld‐Web has a new reporter following Abe Babe’s request for applications—none other than man of the moment, oddguy. Alcar has uploaded Oddworld Universe’s site pages and fanstuff, although the Topsites will be delayed until a domains issue can be sorted out.

According to Michael Bross’s website, the composer was awarded the Gold World Medal for Best Soundtrack at this year’s New York Festivals—old news, but from a fresh perspective. He also claims to be working on Oddworld’s next project and an upcoming short film… Something akin to an Oddworld movie, maybe?

Also, welcome back to Xavier, who rejoins us after a week’s holiday.

2nd Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards

Story 68 reported by Max on
Sunday, 29th February 2004 at 10·26 a.m. GMT

The 2nd Annual Oddworld Forums Awards have ended—two years after the first ceremony! Winners can be found here, and I foolishly forgot to mention that voting had started, but here are the nominations, too.

This year’s Most Valuable Poster has obtained a copy of February’s Polygon Magazine and scanned in the amazing image.

Polygon gone

Story 67 reported by Max on
Saturday, 28th February 2004 at 4·41 p.m. GMT

According to an article at GameSpot, Polygon Magazine has stopped being produced by Deviation, LLP after just nine months (and just as many issues) due to insufficient revenue from renting advertising space. This is an unfortunate occurance for those with high aspirations for video game journalism, as it was truely a great publication. Fortunately, the issue covering Brendan Sinclair’s visit to the Oddworld Studios was the last to be distributed.

Two reviews of Polygon at Cubando (and various other sites) | List of independent retailers stocking Polygon Magazine.

OddBlog opens

Story 60 reported by Max on
Tuesday, 3rd February 2004 at 10·11 p.m. GMT

Just in case you were thinking of attending the Game Developers’ Conference, take note that Oddworld Inhabitants will be in booth 2037, not booth 1934 as previously thought. Lorne also seems to have disappeared from the list of speakers, though his biography remains on the site.

Also, Oddworld‐Web is now up and running again, and the Game Over site is now working properly.

Oh yes, and OddBlog is now viewable to the general public! That’s right, we opened a couple of days ago. See?

Swanland covers for TokyoPop

Story 58 reported by Xav on
Sunday, 1st February 2004 at 6·36 p.m. CET

Raymond Swanland has made some Covers for (at least) two series publiched by TokyoPop. You can see most of the front covers (and even back covers) of Priest and Cardcaptor Sakura—Master of the Clow in this thread.

I discovered this on Xbox.com, quite funny…

I also strongly recomend you to buy the February and March 2004 issues of the Polygon Magazine, I don’t tell more, I don’t want to spoil the surprise.
