Oddworld’s Inhabitants, eventually renamed Inhabitants Profiles, was a monthly feature on Oddworld.com during the First Ten Years, publishing interviews with Oddworld Inhabitants team members. From August 2000 to May 2004, 33 interviews with 33 Inhabitants were published. Most interviews were treated as an opportunity for team members to explain their professional responsibilities and history, and describe the culture of working for Oddworld Inhabitants. Notably, the fourth interview was with Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna for the specific purpose of explaining the company’s decision to launch Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee on Microsoft Xbox.

The interviews were one of the longest-lasting features of Oddworld.com, being published throughout the full lifespan of the First Ten Years website, although they were less frequent than Dear Alf.

Name

The feature originally called ‘Oddworld’s Inhabitants’ was frequently referred to by different names over time. Although it eventually became ‘Inhabitants Profiles’ from May 2003, many other names were used. The table below uses names in the singular (for an interview) and plural (for the series), as they were used on Oddworld.com.

Oddworld: Archives

At the start of 2001, Oddworld.com began Oddworld: Archives, preserving access to former months’ content, including Oddworld’s Inhabitants. The original interview with Lorne Lanning was never put on the page, but all others up to that time were included, and subsequent interviews were regularly added. However, whether it was to preserve the tidiness of the page or to remove content from former team members who had stopped working for Oddworld Inhabitants, many of the interviews were later removed from Oddworld: Archives.

Between April and November 2001, the interviews with Christophe Chaverou, Todd Johnson, Marquise Bent, and Paul O’Connor were removed from Oddworld: Archives.[1][19] Between February and August 2002, the interviews with Farzad Varahramyan, Craig Ewert, Chris Ulm and Scott Miller were removed too.[20][21] Between October 2001 and February 2003, so too were Scott Easley’s and Matt Aldrige’s interviews taken off Oddworld: Archives.[22][23] The same was done to Bonnie Teuton’s interview between June and August 2004, along with Lorne Lanning’s and Sherry McKenna’s Xbox questions.[24][25] In February or March 2005, three more interviews were removed from the Archives: those with Dave Moore, Steve Desilets and John Hood.[26][27]

Between April and July 2005, all remaining Inhabitants Profiles were removed from Oddworld: Archives.[28][29]
