7th Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards
The 7th Annual Oddworld Fourms Poster Awards were started by Wired on 20 February 2009 after the Oddworld Forums staff decided to take control of the Awards once their founder, Wolfpac, had stopped running the tradition. Internal discussion and a call for suggestions from members resulted in several categories being added, removed, renamed or rearranged, the first change to proceedings since 2004.
- ‘Best Topic Creator’ was renamed ‘Best Thread Creator’ and grouped with two new awards ‘Best Blogger’ and ‘Greatest Debator’.
- The awards for art and writing were split into Oddworld and Non-Oddworld pairs, and along with ‘Best Role-Player’ grouped in the ‘Fan Corner Suite’.
- ‘Funniest Poster’ was given a sister award, ‘Most Unintentionally Funny Poster’.
- ‘Best Photo’, ‘Best Avatar’ and ‘Most Likely to Still Be Here in 20 Years’ were added.
- ‘Administrator/Moderator of the Year’ was renamed ‘Best Staff Member’, and the ‘Oddworld Forums Official Mascot’ was renamed ‘Oddworld Forums Unofficial Mascot’.
- ‘Most Respected Poster’ and ‘Insane Poster’ were retired for being too similar to existing categories.
This brought the number of awards up from twenty-three to twenty-nine, and after twenty-eight members voted the results were posted on 14 March 2009.
