Fan of the Month |
Age: 16 Occupation: John: High School Student, ugg... besides that I work at a local marina on the river in Alabama, USA. Favorite Film: John: I love all the Jurassic Park movies, Star Wars movies, and I like a lot of war movies like The Patriot, etc. Plus I am a big fan of Indiana Jones and The Mummy. Favorite Food/Candy? John: Taco Salad, Crispitos, Pizza, and fries! What else? Candy: Tootsie Rolls Favorite TV show? John: Friends Favorite video game? John: Oddworld of course! I also like online multiplayer games like Diablo 2, etc. Favorite School Subject? John: I guess I would have to say Biology. I am all for learning more about creatures, animals, and conservation. Favorite thing you like to do when you're not in school? John: Swim, Jet Ski, ride 4-wheelers, and hang out with friends. Oh, and of course, work on Elumstable! When did you first become aware of Oddworld? John: When Abe's Oddysee first came out, I was walking around in Best Buy when I saw it. I had never heard of it before, but I saw this creature named Elum. I thought he looked really cool (the other things just looked weird). I saved up some moolah, and bought it a week later. When did you first become a true Oddworld fanatic? John: Somewhere between the Stockyards and finding Elum in Paramonia. After that, I was hooked! What is your favorite Oddworld character and why? John: This is probably a given. Elum is by far my favorite Oddworld creature. I am probably obsessive over him, but he just couldn't be any cooler! But I like all creatures in Oddworld, except for the bad ones! I think Gabbits, Mudokons, and Meetles are really cool also. Favorite bad guy? John: I am going to have to go with Sligs. They are pretty cool, especially when they have a Slog trailing behind them. What's your favorite environment? John: Paramonia! Not just because of Elum, but it is just so beautiful. When playing through it, the backgrounds are so lush and perfect that it makes you feel like you are really there. I really hope to revisit it someday in a future game. Have you finished Abe's Exoddus? John: Yes, but I have not saved all the Mudokons. I need to replay it, but I would rather play through Paramonia over and over! What would be your dream vacation/summer break? John: My dream vacation would be Paramonia! But if we are talking about reality, I love outdoors and wildlife, so I would love to visit Africa someday...also Australia and maybe South America. Did you learn web design in school? John: No, sadly. I go to a county school, and they don't offer that many good electives (extra classes). I taught myself. I wanted to have a site all about Elum, mainly to show everyone how much I like him. But through all of Elumstable's growth and designs, I am still learning. How much time do you spend each week on your Oddworld fan site? John: I usually work on it for a couple of hours at night. Sometimes more, depending on what needs to be done. How many hours do you think it will take to create your new site? John: Gosh...like hundreds! I am working at a fast rate, because I want to get it up, online. Also, it is a lot bigger than anything I have done before. How long did it take for the first Elum's Stable? John: A few days. I had an idea, and I applied it. A few weeks after I put it up, I was like "this thing looks so much worse than what I could do." So I kept on making new layouts for Elumstable, each time adding more and more things to it. Somehow, it blossomed into what you see today. Anything you would like to say to your fellow Oddworld fans? John: Most Oddworld fans are into at least one creature. So, if you like it enough, there shouldn't be anything stopping you from making a website about it. I would love to see more websites focused on one thing out of Oddworld in the future. But besides that, stay odd! Return to Archives |
