Fan of the Month

Our Fan(s) of the Month this month are the loyal acolytes who swarm and populate the Oddworld Forums like so many little bustling and nerve-wracking bees on a honeycomb... ready and waiting in case something goes wrong with the game to sting us good, and in thus doing, making sure that honey gets made. Cheers to you, the fan-fic writers, the technicality dissectors, the l33+ sp3ll3rs, why yes, even the FORUM MODERATORS... you are the reality-anchoring snorkel that brings that breath of fresh air from the real world down into the starving lungs deep in the quagmire that is Oddworld! Keepers of the Forums and FOM's one and two respectively, Kristen (AbeBabe) and Sydney have graciously answered a few questions. Congrats to all ya fans and check out   Oddworld Forums   - Alf

Name:   Oddworld Forums

Age:
Sydney:   Oddworld Forums were given birth to on the 11th of May, 2000. The history of Oddworld Forums started when they were known as Oddworldian Forums. Abe Babe joined the forums and created her site, Oddworld-Web, and was promoted to be an Administrator. We've both been in equal power since. It's great because we get along marvellously.

Location:
AbeBabe:   The forums are managed by myself and Sydney. We also have three moderators who moderate individual forums who are Elum, Lampion and Grid. Other than standard forum management, Sydney is responsible for the colors and layout of the forums, while I do all the additions that you see like the personal photos and member ranks.

How many members?
AbeBabe:  Currently (at time of writing) we have 223 members. We seem to get a few new members sign up each day. This is onlysince April when we opened the current forums. We use to have the forums on ezBoard.

Currently what members have the most posts?

Rettick (Member 45): 850

freakyLA (Member 8) : 819

Pacen (Member 6) : 658

AbeBabe (Member 2): 586

What's one of the hottest topics discussed?
Sydney:  Gender and reproduction on Oddworld! This has always been popular.
AbeBabe:   One of the most popular topics recently has been about people's favorite Oddworld creature. It is currently on it's third page with over 100 replies and is still going. Other topics that have been popular are about the "bad" ending of Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus and any topic that covers speculation about Munch's Oddysee is usually a pretty hot topic.

What do the stars mean next to the log in name?
Sydney:   Stars indicate two things; status and postcount. The colour of the stars are Gold for Administrators, Silver for Moderators and Special Guests, and Bronze for regular users. For administrators, the number of stars is five by default, as with Special Guests. Everyone else has to "earn" their stars by the number of posts they make. The number of stars relating to postcount is a surprise!

Any famous members? Have the forums been covered by non Oddworld websites??
AbeBabe:   We could say that your very own Alf is a famous member! Alf posts from time to time to answer fans' questions and provide feedback on various issues. We also have a member of the gaming industry (SteelShark100) who posts from time to time. Other than that, no famous members that we know of (there could be someone in hiding out there). OddChat (which is also run by Sydney and myself) has had some coverage in various gaming press and Xbox sites.

Any Funny stories about the Forums??
Sydney:   Not "funny haha" per se, but we have had some "funny strange" stories. Such as weird people speaking in tongues and others discussing blood drinking with great enthusiasm. Oh, and some find it funny when the forum server goes down occasionally...

Not all members have banners but here are a few.
