Fan of the Month

If you're ever cruising through the harsh Nevada desert looking for a classic car to restore, and you loose a cufflink while snapping your fingers to the oldies station, there's only one man to see. He's not some aging swindler who just figured out the meaning of life and is out to set things straight. He's got his whole life ahead of him. He's lean, mean, seventeen, and never been swindled by a Japanese vintage computer collecting scheme. He's Justin, September Fan of the Month...

Name:   Justin
Age: 17 years old.

Location:   Nevada, USA

Occupation
Justin:  Aside from being a Senior in high school, I'm a freelance computer consultant. I also volunteer at a non-profit computer agency called ComputerCorps during most of my free time.

Favorite video game?
Justin: "Beyond Oasis" for the Sega Genisis and "Star Tropics" for the original NES. I also like the "classic" Sierra games such as King's Quest and Space Quest where you had to type in stuff like "open door" and "kill witch" etc.
Hobbies:
Justin:  Restoring classic cars and old music. I'm a vintage computer specialist: I restore old apple computers to like new condition and sell them for big money on Ebay; mostly to the rich Japanese who think that they are great American collectibles. Some of my all time favorite songs are: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by The Platters, Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley, Midnight Confessions by the Grass Roots, and What a Fool Believes by the Doobie Brothers.

Favorite Food:
Justin:  Cheeseburgers.

Favorite film?
Justin:   John Carpenters "Christine".

Favorite book?
Justin:   John Carpenters "Christine".

Favorite TV show?
Justin:   Sci Fi channel's Farscape.

Favorite school subject?
Justin:   Novell Networking.

When did you first become aware of Oddworld?
Justin:   I saw the t.v. commercial for Abe's Oddysee in 1997. I played the game in 1999.

When did you first become a true Oddworld fanatic?
Justin:  In 1998 even before I first played Abe's Oddysee.

What is your favorite Oddworld character and why?
Justin:  Abe. I can relate to him. I actually worked in a machine shop for a few months as my first job for a real hardass boss. Since my boss was such a perfectionist, he demanded that EVERY small scrap of metal be up off of the floor, and that NO cutting oil was on the floor or anything. Because of this, I had to work around dangerous moving machines and wax the floor weekly after a thorough sweeping. I gave up that job to volunteer at ComputerCorps (even though I don't get paid).

Favorite bad guy?
Justin:  V.P. Aslik.

What's your favorite environment?
Justin:  Paramonia.

Have you finished Abe's Exoddus?
Justin:  Yes. Many times! I've saved all the Mudokons too.

What would be your dream vacation/summer break?
Justin:  To visit Oddworld.

How much time do you spend playing/creating on your computer?
Justin:  All day!

How do you keep up with Oddworld news?
Justin:  I am a frequent visitor to the Oddworld Forums. My Forums name is "Pilot".

Other than www.oddworld.com, what are some of your favorite web sites?
Justin:  My favorite site is www.windrivers.com, but my most visited site is Oddworldian for the forums.

You were able to get your hands on the Xbox controllers and play the game. What did you think?
Justin:  For lack of better words, IT WAS AMAZING! Munch's hopping took some getting used to controller-wise, but it was fun. I like Xbox's controller, because there's a button for everything. You don't have to worry about memorizing button combinations and such. I've also seen some game screenshots that make the game appear to be lo-res, but this is not so. I can't wait for everyone to see the water on their TV screens. It's so good that it might as well be real water!

Anything you would like to say to your fellow Oddworld fans?
Justin:  Hang in there! I know there have been many delays and that some of you are getting disgusted, but don't lose interest because there is more than meets the eye. Keep waiting...it'll be worth it!!
