While it is relatively common to be inspired by natural beauty, fantastic events, and profound acts of heroism, some inspirational material is not so obvious. Inspiration by definition is guidance, influence, and an act of drawing in. It is not necessarily all sunshine and roses. When artists, whether they are authors, musicians, or painters, draw from a broader range of inspirational material, their finished work speaks that much more honestly to the audience.
