The game was pitched some time before the first mention of [[Buddy]],<ref name="Wil discloses Abe's Vacation before Buddy"/> which occured on the Oddworld Forums in <time datetime="2002-06-13T19:09:21Z">June 2002</time>.<ref name="Earliest mention of Buddy"/>

The existence of the pitch was shared on the [[Oddworld Forums Discord]] in <time datetime="2024-08-06T21:39:24.099Z">August 2024</time> by former [[Just Add Water]] and Oddworld Inhabitants worker [[Wil Bunce-Edwards]], who declined to share the identity of the company that pitched <cite class="videogame">Abe's Vacation</cite> on the grounds that the company still existed and is ‘<q cite="https://discord.com/channels/164770326943760386/309087612419833866/1270499529686519809">literally just some guy.</q>’<ref name="Wil doesn't disclose Abe's Vacation pitcher"/>
