Oddguy mentions on the forums that found an intresting list on GamingHorizon. It tells us that ‘Oddworld title’ will be present at the Microsoft booth.
A little info about the March issue of the Polygon Magazine in this topic thanks to Shell Man.

OddChat down
Almost forgot: OddChat is reportedly not working for many frequenters. It’s most likely an IRC issue. We’ll keep you updated.

Oddguy hired by Oddworld‐Web
Oddworld‐Web has a new reporter following Abe Babe’s request for applications—none other than man of the moment, oddguy. Alcar has uploaded Oddworld Universe’s site pages and fanstuff, although the Topsites will be delayed until a domains issue can be sorted out.
According to Michael Bross’s website, the composer was awarded the Gold World Medal for Best Soundtrack at this year’s New York Festivals—old news, but from a fresh perspective. He also claims to be working on Oddworld’s next project and an upcoming short film… Something akin to an Oddworld movie, maybe?
Also, welcome back to Xavier, who rejoins us after a week’s holiday.

2nd Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards
The 2nd Annual Oddworld Forums Awards have ended—two years after the first ceremony! Winners can be found here, and I foolishly forgot to mention that voting had started, but here are the nominations, too.
This year’s Most Valuable Poster has obtained a copy of February’s Polygon Magazine and scanned in the amazing image.

Polygon gone
According to an article at GameSpot, Polygon Magazine has stopped being produced by Deviation, LLP after just nine months (and just as many issues) due to insufficient revenue from renting advertising space. This is an unfortunate occurance for those with high aspirations for video game journalism, as it was truely a great publication. Fortunately, the issue covering Brendan Sinclair’s visit to the Oddworld Studios was the last to be distributed.

Official site updates, February 2004
Finally Oddworld.com has been updated, here is what’s new:
- A new Dear Alf, warning funny names!
- The Press Page 2004: mentioning the Game Over Episode, a feature in Polygon, an article in EGM and a couple of awards at New York Festivals (more details on the Award part).
- The Awards Page 2004: Oddworld Inhabitants’ ‘Stranger CG Intro Movie’ did win the Gold World Medal for ‘Best Computer‐Generated Images’ and ‘Best Soundtrack/Audio Mix’, they were also finalists for the ‘Best Direction’ at New York Festivals (find all the awards Oddworld Inhabitants got there).
- A brand new little icon for the next game on the Game Page.
- OddBlog got 5 Mudokon heads (Maximum Score) in the Links Page!
By the way…
Oddguy scanned the ‘intresting’ pages of the EGM and posted them here along with a transcript. Well done! (You can aslo find it back on Oddworld‐Web)
Depths Of Oddworld got a great new New Species section. Also well done!

‘Munch Money’
Oddsville made a transcript of Lorne Lanning’s interview that you can find in the latest EGM. Please enjoy!

OddBlog opens
Just in case you were thinking of attending the Game Developers’ Conference, take note that Oddworld Inhabitants will be in booth 2037, not booth 1934 as previously thought. Lorne also seems to have disappeared from the list of speakers, though his biography remains on the site.
Also, Oddworld‐Web is now up and running again, and the Game Over site is now working properly.
Oh yes, and OddBlog is now viewable to the general public! That’s right, we opened a couple of days ago. See?
Lanning pad
Oddsville has found an article on p56 of the latest EGM about Lorne Lanning’s house!

Swanland covers for TokyoPop
Raymond Swanland has made some Covers for (at least) two series publiched by TokyoPop. You can see most of the front covers (and even back covers) of Priest and Cardcaptor Sakura—Master of the Clow in this thread.
I discovered this on Xbox.com, quite funny…
I also strongly recomend you to buy the February and March 2004 issues of the Polygon Magazine, I don’t tell more, I don’t want to spoil the surprise.
Indiana Jones in Odd‐World
There’s really very little news to speak of. The Game Over website has been updated, the Oddworld.com jobs page now includes a mention of the Game Developers Conference in March, Hobo has found Indiana Jones in Odd‐World, the first level of which features Paramites, and thanks to Sapphire I’ve come across a wonderful piece of art that should look familiar.

Atusiya delivers
Forum superstar atusiya@ has provided more than enough news for an update. Firstly, there’s an article at millimeter, the professional resource for production and post, regarding AI technology used to produce Peter Jackson’s The Two Towers. Programs such as Steven Regelous’s Massive and John Alitt’s Grunt (General Renderer of Unlimited Numbers of Things) have enabled WETA Digital to create huge armies of characters (called agents) that interact fully with each other through what they see and feel. The ultimate goodness is that Lorne Lanning represented the videogame industry in the article, and spoke of how code could be used to drive movement in characters. Read Atushi’s thread (along with oddguy’s fabulous summary) here.
Furthermore, atusiya@ has discovered a plethora of Oddworld‐related pages at loonygames, including an interview with Lorne about Munch’s Oddysee from 1998, a report from 1999’s E3 (including three beautiful logos, and information on side projects, action figures and a motion picture on page 2), talk of OWI liscensing the Unreal engine for MO along with a very flattering review of AO, a comparative study of AO and Interstate ’76, and a review of AE. Here’s the thread for that.
On top of all that, Atushi has found a second Abe Babe!
Finally, in our Abe Babe’s recruitment topic, oddguy has discovered an obscure reference to Oddworld Inhabitants in a political article at the San Luis Obispo Tribune. However, I have never heard of an Andrew H. Card working at Oddworld Inhabitants.
