Welcopme is an internet meme used on the Oddworld Forums between and . It is an intentional misspelling of the word ‘welcome’, and can be used in exactly the same ways.

History

The first 3 uses of ‘welcopme’ were all posted in the Welcomes & Birthdays forum by user Ridg3. Replying to 3 threads by separate new members, they posted the identical messages within on .

Welcome, I just read the first half of the first page so I don't know what silly stuff you said, so for now you're okay.

Ridg3 was the first to comment that they had copied the same message each time, admitting ‘I did just copy paste that so I probably didn't read past the OP.’[4] MA was the first member to repeat the meme, which he did verbatim the .[5] OANST was the first member to explicitly point it out as a meme,[6] and to iterate on the original message.[7] It took for the word ‘welcopme’ to be used again and in a new thread, which was done by member Vyrien.[8]

In , ‘welcopme’ was first used in an alternative context when it was said to Forums member Jordan in his birthday thread.[9][10]

In , STM posted the results for the 11th Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards, in which the award for ‘Most Welcome Return’ was renamed ‘Most Welcopme Return’.[11] This was repeated for the results of 12th Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards in .[12]

In , multiple variations on the construction of ‘welcopme’ were used, include ‘bonjopre’,[13] ‘willkopmmen’,[14] and ‘歓p迎’.[15]

In , JayDee included ‘welcopme’ in his deck of ‘response’ cards designed for an Oddworld Forums–themed unofficial expansion to Cards Against Humanity.[16]
