6th Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards: Difference between revisions

The 6th Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards were the sixth in the series of semi-annual member awards on the Oddworld Forums that have continued to the present.^[1] Although there were no differences from previous years' Awards in terms of award categories or the voting process, the 6th Awards are noteworthy for being not just the last Awards hosted by Wolfpac, but being some of Wolfpac's final posts on the Oddworld Forums. The Awards results were hosted by Wired, making the 6th Awards not only the first in the series to have a host other than Wolfpac, but to this date being the only Awards with different hosts for the voting and the results.

They were initially hosted by Wolfpac, who opened voting on 17 March 2008 in the same 23 categories as the 3rd, 4th and 5th Awards.^[2] The nineteenth and final public vote was cast in the thread on 30 March,^[3] but Wolfpac didn't post again until 23 April to say that his computer had been broken and that he would count the votes ‘now’.^[4] Apart from one other, unrelated post that day,^[5] Wolfpac never posted on the Oddworld Forums again.

The results of the 6th Awards were eventually posted by Wired on 18 May 2008.^[6] The time difference between the start of voting and the posting of the results was 62 days, the longest such interval in the Awards' history until it was beaten by the 15th Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards' 66 days. The 6th Awards were also the first to divide votes into thirds as well as halves.
