8th Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards

The 8th Annual Oddworld Forums Poster Awards were the eighth in the series of semi-annual member awards on the Oddworld Forums that have continued to the present.[1] They were hosted by Wired, who opened voting on in 28 categories.[2] Twenty-eight members voted in the Awards, the results of which were posted on .[3]

This was the first Awards where a category was won by someone other than a member of the Oddworld Forums: ‘The Oddworld Forums Unofficial Mascot’ was won by Abbey, the daughter of member OANST.

Categories

Three of the categories that were introduced in the 7th Awards were removed from the lineup of the 8th Awards. ‘The Oddworld Forums Best Photo’, ‘Best Avatar’ and ‘Most Likely to Still Be Here in 20 Years’ were retired, making them the first one-off categories in the Awards' history. They were replaced by three new categories taken from suggestions made in a thread created by Oddworld Forums administrator Nate.[4]

Additionally, ‘The Oddworld Forums Best Oddworld Writer’ and ‘Best Non-Oddworld Writer’ were recombined into the single category ‘Best Writer’, with the net result of reducing the number of categories by one from the previous year's 29. One category suggested but not used until later Awards was ‘Creator of the greatest meme’, suggested by shaman[9]). The category ‘Best Old Dude’ was renamed to ‘Best Veteran’.
